In 1984 he went as visiting professor of the Delhi University posted to work at Hamdard Research Centre. The job was to make a Health University at Hamdard. Hakim Abdul Hamid, the founder, whom he had known for a long time was devout educationist and a philanthropist and encouraged him to establish a top grade Pharmacology Department where advanced research could take place. Funds were plenty and equipment of all kinds could be procured. Not only were him to establish the Jamia Hamdard University, he was asked to start a Ph.D programme in Pharmacology, the first of its kind there. The first 3 Ph.D students of this university, now fully established, were those we guided through his programme. They were Ms K Sharma, Ms Shanti Pal and Mohammad Nadeem.
